Hey folks, Aaron here. I wanted to talk about this great book called “Gather.” When I received this book in the mail, I immediately stopped what I was doing and sat down to look through every recipe. The pictures are some of the best pictures I’ve seen in a cookbook, with Bill Staley deserving much of the credit for taking them. Also, the book is organized in a way that makes it easy to comprehend. Each occasion has a menu that the reader can work off of and a shopping/preparation page which lists what needs to be done three days ahead, one day ahead, and one hour before the dinner. Seriously guys, it’s almost impossible to mess this up with the help of Bill and Hayley.
Another great thing about this book is the recipes aren’t very complicated and they are clean (when speaking in Paleo terms of no grains, legumes, or dairy), which I like because I don’t have to pick through the recipe and double check the ingredients.
My girlfriend, Sarah, and I decided we couldn’t even make it past the first section entitled “takeout fake-out.” We looked at the shrimp fried cauliflower rice on page 30 and had to make it. I can’t give away all the secrets, but I will give you a couple of teaser pictures.
First we started by chopping up the peppers, shallots, and carrots. Then we tossed them in a saucepan.
After that is the shrimp, cauliflower, and egg!
The finished product was delicious! We ate the entire thing and would definitely make it again, but with so many other fantastic looking meals in this book, it’s hard to choose what to make next.
Gather is coming out in the next couple weeks and is still available for pre-order. This is a fantastic book, and by far my favorite cookbook. Bill and Hayley keep pushing the envelope with each book. I can’t wait to create more of these delicious recipes! Check it out and pre-order now.
